KAUNAS PHOTO 2014 opening week program. September 3 – 6
The main part of KAUNAS PHOTO festival kick-starts on September 3 – 6, 2014, 10 years after the first edition of “Kaunas Photo Days” brought the new photographic culture to Lithuania. Last year, for the 10th edition of the festival, the theme was “Celebration”. In 2014, the festival manifests as a festival worth visiting, the place and time to visit Kaunas and experience photography in its new quality and see all exhibitions in just a few venues. With entry times of venues matching, a one-day visitor in Kaunas can see every exhibition of the festival, until October 12, the last day of festival’s exhibitions.
The program of the festival radiates motives of anniversaries that are common for other festivals and an entire group of photographers.
Three large-scale collective exhibitions are hosted by prime venue for contemporary art in Kaunas, festival’s exclusive partner M.Žilinskas Art Gallery of the National M.K.Čiurlionis Art Museum, while others find their contexts in alternative spaces, including outdoor exhibitions, like Tomáš Pospěch‘s (Czech Republic) “Castle Owners” near Kaunas Castle or Davide Monteleone‘s (Italy/France) “Spasibo” at the Chechnya square.
The festival endorses a number of intense talks of artists who will share their inspirations, success stories, artist’s survival tips.
